HomeFlorida Home Inspector License
Florida passed the home inspector bill, SB 2234, in 2007 requiring all home inspectors in Florida to be licensed by July 2010. The licensing requirements for home inspectors in Florida require inspectors to:
- Be of good moral character
- Have a high school diploma / equivalent
- Complete a course of study (approved by the department)
- Maintain a commercial general liability insurance policy in an amount not less than $300,000.
- Pass a state license exam required by Florida
There is also a Grandfathering Clause in place that states that if a person who performs home inspection services prior to July 1 2010 can qualify to be licensed if the person meets the licensure requirements of this bill by July 1, 2010.
